Emerson Hancock
Emerson Hancock Falls to Minnesota
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 7:33 PM
Hancock (3-4) took the loss Thursday against the Twins, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out two.
Analysis: Hancock was sharp early, blanking Minnesota through his first four innings, before giving up a two-run homer to Trevor Larnach in the fifth. While he'd ultimately take a second straight loss, it was a good bounce-back effort from Hancock, after he gave up nine runs and four homers in his last outing against the Cubs. Overall, Hancock sports a 5.30 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP and 52:27 K:BB across 14 starts (71.1 innings) this season. He's currently scheduled to face the Royals at home in his next start.
Mitch Garver
Mitch Garver Exits early Thursday
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 6:01 PM
Garver (jaw) exited Thursday's contest against the Twins in the bottom of the fifth inning, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Garver was struck in the jaw by a foul ball while playing behind the plate versus Minnesota, ultimately forcing him to leave the game. Cal Raleigh took over at catcher, and the Mariners were forced to lose their designated hitter spot in the lineup as a result. More information on Garver's status will likely be provided in the near future.
Luke Raley
Luke Raley On bench against righty
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 9:24 AM
Raley is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Raley had started in each of the Mariners' last three games, but for the second time since he was activated from the injured list last Friday, he'll take a seat against a right-handed starting pitcher (Simeon Woods Richardson). Raley still appears likely to see the lion's share of playing time at first base versus righties after the Mariners recently cut Rowdy Tellez, but the hot-hitting Donovan Solano -- who has largely served as a short-side platoon player this season -- has made a strong case of late for earning more opportunities. Solano will get the nod at first base Thursday after slashing .485/.514/.788 with three home runs and 13 RBI over his last 10 games.
Jorge Polanco
Jorge Polanco Absent from lineup
Thu, Jun 26, 2025, 9:14 AM
Polanco is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Minnesota.
Analysis: Polanco made just one start during the Mariners' three-game set against the Twins. The 31-year-old has posted a .494 OPS since the beginning of May and could be at risk of losing out on a regular spot in the lineup. Cal Raleigh will get a start at designated hitter Thursday, while Mitch Garver handles catching duties.
Randy Arozarena
Randy Arozarena Productive month continues in loss
Wed, Jun 25, 2025, 10:16 PM
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a walk in Wednesday's 2-0 loss to the Twins.
Analysis: Arozarena's on-base streak is now up to seven games to continue his strong month. Through 81 at-bats in June, the speedy outfielder is batting .284 with an .805 OPS, one home run, eight doubles, eight RBI and five stolen bases. Arozarena has reached base safely in 17 of these 22 outings.
Dominic Canzone
Dominic Canzone Idle Wednesday
Wed, Jun 25, 2025, 4:17 PM
Canzone isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Twins, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Analysis: After going 5-for-13 with three homers and an additional run scored over his last three starts, Canzone will take a seat Wednesday while Luke Raley starts in right field.
Ben Williamson
Ben Williamson Getting breather Wednesday
Wed, Jun 25, 2025, 4:14 PM
Williamson isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Analysis: Williamson will get a chance to catch his breath Wednesday after collecting three hits and scoring three runs across the first two games of the series. Miles Mastrobuoni will fill in for him at third base and bat ninth.
Matt Brash
Matt Brash Earns save Tuesday
Wed, Jun 25, 2025, 7:15 AM
Brash picked up his first save of the season in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Twins, striking out a batter over a perfect inning of work.
Analysis: Brash was called upon for the save after the Andres Munoz was deployed in the eighth of a tie game. The Mariners took the lead in the top of the ninth and Brash shut the door with ease. Tuesday's save was Brash's first since the 2023 season after he missed all of last year and the start of this year with injury. He's begun his 2025 campaign by pitching 14.1 scoreless innings while racking up seven holds and now a save. Brash looks to be the next man up for saves if Munoz were to miss time.
Andres Munoz
Andres Munoz Picks up win
Wed, Jun 25, 2025, 7:08 AM
Munoz (3-0) earned the win Tuesday against the Twins after firing a perfect inning while striking out two.
Analysis: Munoz was brought in to pitch the eighth with the game tied, and he was flawless. The Mariners would take the lead in the top of the ninth and Matt Brash came in to earn his first save of the year. Tuesday was only Munoz's second time pitching since June 9 and he last recorded a save June 8. He's still been one of the most dominant relievers in all of baseball this season and firmly remains the team's closer despite how Tuesday night played out.
Luis Castillo
Luis Castillo Allows five runs Tuesday
Wed, Jun 25, 2025, 7:01 AM
Castillo allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings in Tuesday's win over the Twins. He did not factor into the decision.
Analysis: Castillo was staked a five-run lead in the third inning and gave it all right back. Kody Clemens took him deep in the third before the Twins would tack on four more runs in the fourth. Castillo has given up a home run in four consecutive outings and he's allowed at least seven hits in three of his last six starts. Castillo is winless since May 19 and will look to change that this weekend against the Rangers.
Julio Rodriguez
Julio Rodriguez Snaps homer drought
Mon, Jun 23, 2025, 9:23 PM
Rodriguez went 2-for-5 with a homer, a double, four RBI and an additional run scored in Monday's 11-2 victory at Minnesota.
Analysis: The Seattle center fielder extended his team's lead to 3-0 in the third inning with a two-run, 442-foot long ball off Twins starter Bailey Ober. The homer broke a streak of 23 games without going deep for Rodriguez over which he hit .268 (26-for-97) with six steals, 10 runs scored and only three RBI. The 24-year-old also tallied two additional RBI in the ninth with his 11th double of the season. Rodriguez is slashing .254/.315/.413 with 11 homers, 48 runs scored and 39 RBI across 343 total plate appearances.
Luke Raley
Luke Raley Blasts first homer since return
Mon, Jun 23, 2025, 9:21 PM
Raley went 1-for-2 with a three-run homer and a hit-by-pitch in Monday's victory over the Twins.
Analysis: Raley played first base and took Bailey Ober deep in the third inning to notch his third homer of the season. He was later lifted from the game in favor of Dylan Moore when Minnesota brought in a lefty, Joey Wentz, to relieve Ober. Raley currently fills the strong side of a platoon and likely will continue to do so thanks to a career .185 average (29-for-157) against southpaws. Through 95 plate appearances this season, the 30-year-old is slashing .247/.379/.403 with 13 RBI and 12 runs scored.
Bryan Woo
Bryan Woo Cruises to seventh win
Mon, Jun 23, 2025, 9:18 PM
Woo (7-4) picked up the win Monday at Minnesota, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out nine.
Analysis: The 25-year-old tidily handled the Twins lineup, blowing them away with 18 whiffs out of his 91 total pitches. The only blemishes on Woo's line came in the sixth when he had a seven-run lead and allowed back-to-back solo homers to Trevor Larnach and Carlos Correa. With this performance, Woo collected his 11th quality start, marking a new career best. He will carry a sterling 3.12 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 87:15 K:BB through 95.1 frames into his next start, which projects to be at Texas this weekend.
Donovan Solano
Donovan Solano Back to bench Monday
Mon, Jun 23, 2025, 3:29 PM
Solano is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins.
Analysis: Solano had started at first base in each of the last four games -- two against right-handed pitchers, two against left-handers -- and went 10-for-17 with two home runs, one double, one walk and eight RBI, but the Mariners aren't yet ready to commit to him as an everyday player. Even after that productive four-game stretch, Solano is still slashing just .257/.295/.371 in 112 plate appearances on the season. Solano should continue to play regularly against left-handed pitching, but his playing time against righties could be more sporadic while the Mariners have the left-handed-hitting Luke Raley available to play first base.
Gabe Speier
Gabe Speier Working through shaky June
Sun, Jun 22, 2025, 9:42 PM
Speier allowed two runs on one hit and one walk in one inning during Sunday's 14-6 win over the Cubs. He struck out one.
Analysis: It's the most runs Speier has given up since April 29, and Sunday marked just the second time this year that he surrendered greater than one. The 30-year-old southpaw has endured a rough June so far, working to a 6.00 ERA through six innings this month, but he'll nonetheless remain an important weapon out of Seattle's bullpen as its lone left-hander. Speier owns a strong 2.86 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 40:7 K:BB across 28.1 innings in 2025.
Donovan Solano
Donovan Solano Homers twice, drives in five
Sun, Jun 22, 2025, 9:13 PM
Solano went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI in Sunday's win against the Cubs.
Analysis: Solano ripped a solo shot in the fourth inning and a two-run homer in the seventh. He capped off his day with a two-run single during Seattle's five-run eighth inning. Solano posted three consecutive three-hit games during the weekend series against the Cubs, boosting his season OPS from .490 to .666 in the process. Solano did not homer in any of his first 38 games this season but has gone deep three times in the last six contests.
Dominic Canzone
Dominic Canzone Belts two homers
Sun, Jun 22, 2025, 9:10 PM
Canzone went 3-for-5 with two solo home runs in Sunday's win over the Cubs.
Analysis: Canzone knocked solo shots in the second and sixth innings as part of Seattle's 14-run outburst. He's gone deep three times in 10 games since being promoted from Triple-A Tacoma earlier this month. The 27-year-old is slashing .286/.342/.600 through 38 MLB plate appearances.
Cal Raleigh
Cal Raleigh Goes deep again
Sun, Jun 22, 2025, 8:51 PM
Raleigh went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, three runs scored and two walks in Sunday's win over the Cubs.
Analysis: Raleigh belted a two-run shot in the first inning Sunday for his 31st long ball of the year. It was his third straight game with a home run and he has five over his last five games. The superstar catcher has produced three straight 30-homer seasons and is quickly approaching his career best of 34 set last season. Raleigh is slashing .276/.383/.659 with 45 extra-base hits and 66 RBIs through 75 appearances.
Logan Gilbert
Logan Gilbert Wins with shaky outing
Sun, Jun 22, 2025, 7:46 PM
Gilbert (2-2) allowed four runs on eight hits over five innings Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over the Cubs.
Analysis: Gilbert gave up one run through four innings before the Cubs scored three in the fifth. All four runs scored against him came via home runs, including two by Seiya Suzuki, but Seattle's 14-run outburst still led to a victory. Gilbert entered Sunday with just four homers allowed through 35.1 innings this season. He's posted a 16:1 K:BB in 10 innings since returning from the injured list and now owns a 60:7 K:BB with a 3.12 ERA across eight appearances. Gilbert generated 18 whiffs on 90 pitches Sunday, including eight with his splitter. His next start is projected to be on the road against Texas.
Cole Young
Cole Young On bench Sunday
Sun, Jun 22, 2025, 1:29 PM
Young is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.
Analysis: Young will take a seat after he went 0-for-6 with three strikeouts in the first two contests of the series. Jorge Polanco will replace Young at the keystone.
