Analysis: Fujinami dealt with a shoulder injury this past season and posted a 6.68 ERA and 38:33 K:BB over 32.1 innings during a stint with Triple-A Syracuse in the Mets organization. The 30-year-old struck out 83 in 79 frames between the Athletics and Orioles in 2023 but also walked 45 and held a 7.18 ERA.

Austin Kitchen Clears waivers
Thu, Jan 16, 2025, 12:30 PM
Kitchen cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Tacoma.
Analysis: Kitchen never made an appearance for the M's after being claimed off waivers in September, though he did make four appearances for the Marlins, surrendering 11 earned runs in just seven frames. He'll now serve as organizational depth in the Rainiers' bullpen.

Wed, Jan 15, 2025, 1:58 PM
The Mariners designated Taylor for assignment Wednesday.
Analysis: The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Blake Hunt. Taylor, 26, spent nearly all of the 2024 season at Triple-A Tacoma, putting up a .732 OPS with 11 homers and 50 steals.

Tue, Jan 14, 2025, 1:24 PM
The Mariners acquired Mastrobuoni from the Cubs on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Mastrobuoni had been designated for assignment but will now get to join a new 40-man roster. A .219/.279/.263 across 272 career plate appearances in the majors, the utility player will compete for a reserve role this spring but does have minor-league options remaining.
Austin Kitchen
Austin Kitchen Removed from 40-man roster
Mon, Jan 13, 2025, 3:46 PM
The Mariners designated Kitchen for assignment Monday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Donovan Solano, who was signed Monday. Kitchen was a September waiver claim of the Mariners and didn't make an appearance for them. He allowed 12 runs (11 earned) over seven innings with the Marlins in 2024.
Donovan Solano
Donovan Solano One-year pact with Seattle
Mon, Jan 13, 2025, 3:41 PM
The Mariners signed Solano to a one-year, $3.5 million contract Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Analysis: He can earn an additional $1 million in incentives. Solano turned 37 last month but had a productive 2024 campaign with the Padres, slashing .286/.343/.417 with a career-high eight home runs over 96 contests. J.P. Crawford at shortstop looks to be the only infielder currently guaranteed a starting spot with the Mariners, so Solano should play plenty, particularly against left-handed pitching. He started games at third and first base in 2024 in addition to designated hitter and also has plenty of past experience at second base.
Trent Thornton
Trent Thornton Avoids arbitration
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 2:58 PM
The Mariners and Thornton avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2 million contract Thursday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Thornton has turned into a quality reliever for the Mariners, collecting a 3.20 ERA and 98:24 K:BB over 98.1 frames. The right-hander is slated for a middle relief role again in 2025.
George Kirby
George Kirby Receives $4.3 million from Seattle
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 2:55 PM
The Mariners and Kirby avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $4.3 million contract Thursday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: It's a substantial raise for Kirby, who was eligible for arbitration for the first time as a Super 2 qualifier. The right-hander collected a 3.53 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 179:23 K:BB over 191 innings covering 33 starts for Seattle in 2024.
Tyler Jay
Tyler Jay Claimed by Seattle
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 2:52 PM
The Mariners claimed Jay off waivers from the Brewers on Thursday.
Analysis: Jay had been designated for assignment and has now found a new home. The left-handed reliever made it to the majors at 30 for the first time in 2024, allowing five runs (four earned) over five appearances between the Mets and Brewers.
Logan Gilbert
Logan Gilbert Inks contract for 2025
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 2:30 PM
Gilbert agreed to a one-year, $7.625 million contract with the Mariners on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Analysis: The right-hander led MLB with 208.2 innings last season and had a 3.23 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 220:37 K:BB as he made a career-high 33 starts. Gilbert picked up just nine wins despite his strong performance, but he has quickly established himself as one of the more reliable pitchers in baseball with a 3.60 ERA in 121 starts through his first four big-league seasons.
Cal Raleigh
Cal Raleigh Avoids arbitration
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 1:17 PM
Raleigh agreed to a one-year, $5.6 million contract with the Mariners on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Analysis: Raleigh will receive a $4.8 million salary bump in his first year of arbitration eligibility after setting career highs with 34 home runs and 100 RBI in 2024. While his career .218 batting average remains an issue for fantasy managers, the 28-year-old's power and consistent playing time make him well worth rostering in 2025.
Randy Arozarena
Randy Arozarena Settles at $11.3 million
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 1:08 PM
The Mariners and Arozarena avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $11.3 million contract Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: This was Arozarena's third of four salary arbitration years. The veteran outfielder posted an underwhelming .219/.332/.388 batting line during the 2024 season but did register his fourth straight 20-20 campaign. He'll be the Mariners' left fielder and hit in the middle of their lineup in 2025.
Hagen Danner
Hagen Danner Scooped up by Seattle via waivers
Wed, Jan 8, 2025, 2:23 PM
The Mariners claimed Danner off waivers from the Blue Jays on Wednesday, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Danner made one appearance for the Blue Jays in 2023 before spending most of the 2024 campaign at Triple-A Buffalo, holding a 3.15 ERA and 34:13 K:BB over 34.1 frames. He'll compete for a bullpen job in Seattle but has minor-league options remaining.
Josh Fleming
Josh Fleming Re-signs with Seattle
Thu, Dec 19, 2024, 12:03 PM
The Mariners re-signed Fleming to a minor-league contract Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Analysis: Fleming began the 2024 season with the Pirates before finishing it at Triple-A Tacoma in the Mariners organization. The owner of a 4.77 ERA over parts of five major-league seasons, Fleming is likely headed back to Tacoma to start 2025 as some rotation depth for the Mariners.
Matt Brash
Matt Brash Aiming for late April return
Wed, Nov 27, 2024, 11:07 AM
The Mariners are optimistic Brash (elbow) can make his 2025 season debut by the end of April, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Brash had an internal brace procedure on his right elbow in early May, so a return by April would be aggressive. However, he's been working out at the team's spring training complex in Arizona and is considered ahead of schedule in his recovery. Brash was dynamite out of Seattle's bullpen in 2023, posting a 3.06 ERA and 107:29 K:BB across 70.2 innings. Once healthy, he will serve in a leverage relief role for the Mariners.
Adonis Medina
Adonis Medina Catches on with Seattle
Sat, Nov 23, 2024, 10:45 PM
The Mariners signed Medina to a minor-league contract Monday, per the MiLB's transaction log.
Analysis: Medina spent the entire 2024 regular season with Triple-A Rochester where he posted a 3.76 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 64.2 innings. The 27-year-old right-hander will presumably get a chance to earn a spot in the Mariners' bullpen during spring training.
Yunior Marte
Yunior Marte Inks minor-league deal with Seattle
Sat, Nov 23, 2024, 6:11 PM
The Mariners signed Marte (shoulder) to a minor-league contract Saturday that includes an invitation to spring training, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Analysis: Marte spent the last two seasons with the Phillies' organization, and in 2024 he posted a 6.92 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over 26 innings in the majors. Marte was shut down from throwing in mid-September due to a right shoulder injury, but he should be fully healthy for spring training and will look to earn a spot in the Mariners' bullpen for the 2025 season.
JT Chargois
JT Chargois Designated for assignment
Tue, Nov 19, 2024, 8:15 PM
The Mariners designated Chargois for assignment Tuesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: With Austin Shenton joining the organization Tuesday via a trade with the Rays, Chargois will end up as the odd man out of the Mariners' 40-man roster. The 33-year-old was extremely effective out of the bullpen in 2024, posting a 2.23 ERA and 1.02 WHIP across 36.1 total innings between Miami and Seattle, so there could be a handful of teams bidding for his services via waivers.
Austin Shenton
Austin Shenton Traded to Seattle
Tue, Nov 19, 2024, 8:07 PM
The Rays traded Shenton to the Mariners on Tuesday in exchange for cash, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: After making his MLB debut and appearing in 19 games for the Rays in 2024, Shenton will now reunite with the organization that originally drafted him back in 2019. The 26-year-old infielder slashed .258/.361/.497 with 20 home runs and 65 RBI across 363 minor-league plate appearances last season, and he will likely remain an organizational depth piece upon moving to Seattle. JT Chargois was DFA'd in a corresponding move.
Casey Lawrence
Casey Lawrence Sticking with Mariners
Mon, Nov 18, 2024, 4:20 PM
The Mariners signed Lawrence to a minor-league contract Friday, per the MLB's transaction log.
Analysis: Lawrence participated in spring training for the Mariners this past March, and he'll likely do so again after agreeing to yet another minor-league deal with Seattle. The 37-year-old right-hander spent the entire 2024 regular season with Triple-A Tacoma, registering an 11-11 record over 29 starts with a 5.95 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 108:48 K:BB over 165 innings.
