Logan Gilbert
Logan Gilbert Delivers quality start in Game 3
Tue, Oct 7, 2025, 11:19 PM
Gilbert earned the win during Game 3 of the ALDS versus Detroit on Tuesday after allowing one earned run on four hits and zero walks while striking out seven batters across six innings.
Analysis: A three-hour rain delay didn't seem to faze Gilbert at all, as he was able to generate 16 whiffs on 85 pitches and finished his outing without dishing out a free pass to first base. A fielder's choice allowed the Tigers to plate a run against the right-hander in the fourth inning, but an eight-run performance from the Mariners' offense ensured that Gilbert was never in serious jeopardy of leaving the ballpark Tuesday without a win. If Seattle advances to the ALCS, the 28-year-old would likely be in the conversation to start one of the first two games of the series.
Josh Naylor
Josh Naylor In lineup for ALDS Game 3
Tue, Oct 7, 2025, 11:23 AM
Naylor (personal) will start at first base and bat fifth Tuesday in Game 3 of the ALDS versus the Tigers.
Analysis: Naylor's availability for Game 3 had been in question, as he did not travel with the Mariners to Detroit while he and his wife were expecting the birth of their first child. He has since rejoined the team and is in the lineup as the series moves to Detroit. Naylor is 0-for-8 with a 1:1 BB:K in the first two games of the ALDS.
Josh Naylor
Josh Naylor Status for Games 3 and 4 uncertain
Mon, Oct 6, 2025, 4:34 PM
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said Monday that Naylor is with his expecting wife and it's uncertain whether the first baseman will be available for ALDS Games 3 and 4 in Detroit, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Naylor did not travel with the team as he and his wife await the birth of their first child. He could be placed on the paternity list, which would make him unavailable for 1-to-3 games, but it does not seem to be a given that that move will be made. Luke Raley or Eugenio Suarez could fill in at first base if Naylor has to miss time. If it's Suarez who is used at first base, the Mariners would install Ben Williamson at third base. Naylor has gone 0-for-8 with a 1:1 BB:K in the first two games of the ALDS versus the Tigers.
Andres Munoz
Andres Munoz Nabs save in Game 2
Mon, Oct 6, 2025, 9:57 AM
Munoz retired the side in order in the ninth inning against the Tigers on Sunday to earn the save in Game 2 of the American League Division Series. He struck out one batter.
Analysis: After the M's took the lead in the bottom of the eighth, Munoz nailed down the win -- the organization's first home playoff win since 2001. Munoz took a loss to the Dodgers during the final weekend of the regular season, ending a streak of nine consecutive scoreless appearances, but he's bounced back in a big way with three perfect innings so far in the ALDS, and he now has his first career postseason save. The 26-year-old right-hander has emerged as one of the game's top closers, posting a 1.73 ERA and 1.03 WHIP to go along with a career-high 38 saves during the regular season.
Jorge Polanco
Jorge Polanco Pops two homers against Skubal
Mon, Oct 6, 2025, 9:31 AM
Polanco went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs in Sunday's win over the Tigers in Game 2 of the American League Division Series.
Analysis: Polanco played hero for the Mariners, putting the team on the board with a home run off Detroit ace Tarik Skubal in the fourth inning and adding another homer against Skubal in the sixth. It's a performance that will long be remembered in Seattle, as Polanco set the stage for the team to eventually take the lead for good in the eighth inning, after it took the loss to Troy Melton and company in Game 1. Polanco finished the regular season with a .329/.380/.634 slash line in September and may have saved the season in the club's second playoff game of 2025.
Luis Castillo
Luis Castillo Walks four in no-decision
Mon, Oct 6, 2025, 9:18 AM
Castillo did not factor into the decision in Sunday's win over the Tigers in Game 2 of the American League Division Series. He allowed one hit and four walks while striking out three over 4.2 scoreless innings.
Analysis: The veteran right-hander matched his single-game high this season with the four free passes -- a number he reached only once during the regular season -- but he was effective nonetheless. Castillo recorded 13 swings-and-misses on 85 pitches and hung zeros, affording his team enough time to eventually win the game and even the series at one game apiece. His dominance has waned a bit in recent years, but Castillo is still an incredibly valuable piece of the Seattle rotation.
Dominic Canzone
Dominic Canzone Taking seat against Skubal
Sun, Oct 5, 2025, 1:54 PM
Canzone is out of the lineup Sunday for Game 2 of the ALDS against the Tigers.
Analysis: After starting and going 0-for-4 in Saturday's 3-2 loss in 11 innings, the left-handed-hitting Canzone will exit the lineup as the Tigers send ace southpaw Tarik Skubal to the bump. Mitch Garver will replace Canzone in the starting nine, serving as Seattle's designated hitter and batting seventh.
George Kirby
George Kirby One mistake in no-decision
Sat, Oct 4, 2025, 11:18 PM
Kirby did not factor into the decision in Saturday's extra-innings loss to the Tigers in Game 1 of the ALDS. He allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight over five innings.
Analysis: Kirby was cruising and appeared to have some of his best command all season, but Kerry Carpenter turned a one-run Detroit deficit into a one-run Tigers lead with his home run with two outs in the fifth inning. The 27-year-old Kirby induced 16 swinging strikes on 94 pitches, continuing an impressive run of dominance from September (31 strikeouts in his final 17.1 regular-season innings). He's not assured of another start this postseason, but Kirby lines up to toe the rubber at home next Friday in Game 5.
Josh Naylor
Josh Naylor Starting in Game 1
Sat, Oct 4, 2025, 2:47 PM
Naylor (groin) will start at first base and bat fourth in Saturday's ALDS Game 1 matchup against the Tigers.
Analysis: Groin soreness kept Naylor out of the lineup for the Mariners' final two regular-season games, but he's now feeling well enough to rejoin the starting nine for the beginning of the ALDS. The 28-year-old may still have to miss time during the series, however, as his wife is expected to go into labor in the very near future.
Victor Robles
Victor Robles In lineup Saturday
Sat, Oct 4, 2025, 2:36 PM
Robles (shoulder) will start in right field and bat eighth in Saturday's ALDS Game 1 matchup against the Tigers.
Analysis: Robles sat out the Mariners' final few regular-season contests while nursing a left shoulder injury, but a first-round bye has given him enough time to recover and return for Game 1 of the ALDS. The 28-year-old outfielder has slashed .224/.278/.347 across 54 plate appearances since the beginning of September.
Bryan Woo
Bryan Woo Misses out on ALDS roster
Sat, Oct 4, 2025, 10:33 AM
Woo (pectoral) isn't on the Mariners' roster for the ALDS, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Woo missed the final couple of weeks of the regular season due to right pectoral inflammation. He tossed a bullpen session Thursday that the Mariners considered successful, but evidently not successful enough to include him in the team's pitching plans for its ALDS matchup against the Tigers. The 25-year-old will be eligible to return in the ALCS if Seattle advances.
Bryan Woo
Bryan Woo Feeling good after bullpen session
Thu, Oct 2, 2025, 10:39 PM
Woo's (pectoral) bullpen session went as planned Thursday, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
Analysis: There weren't many details provided about Woo's throwing session, but it was deemed a success by the team. More details about his availability should come Friday, as the team wants to see how Woo is feeling following a day of recovery before announcing their pitching plans for the ALDS.
Bryan Woo
Bryan Woo Throwing bullpen session Thursday
Wed, Oct 1, 2025, 12:59 PM
Woo (pectoral) is slated to throw a bullpen session Thursday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: It will be the first time Woo has thrown off a mound since he suffered a right pectoral injury during his Sept. 19 start in Houston. If the Mariners want Woo to throw at least two bullpen sessions before clearing him to rejoin the rotation, he would not be available to start until Game 3 of the ALDS. More should be known about Woo's status following Thursday's throwing session.
Luke Jackson
Luke Jackson Strong results since joining M's
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 9:25 PM
Jackson threw 1.1 clean innings of relief Sunday against the Dodgers, striking out two.
Analysis: After fizzling out as the Rangers' closer to open the season and then failing to keep his roster spot with Detroit, Jackson has found his footing with the Mariners since joining the club in September. The veteran right-hander has given up no earned runs in eight of his 10 outings for Seattle, producing a 2.38 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB over 11.1 innings. With prior late-inning experience to boot, Jackson should be an option for high-leverage work during the playoffs.
Gabe Speier
Gabe Speier Scoreless streak ends Sunday
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 9:15 PM
Speier allowed one run on one hit in one inning of relief Sunday against the Dodgers, striking out two.
Analysis: Speier's scoreless streak of 10 appearances came to an end, but he'll still finish the regular season with strong numbers overall. Through 62 innings, the southpaw logged a 2.61 ERA, a career-best 0.87 WHIP and 82:11 K:BB. Speier is set to be a major weapon out of the Seattle bullpen during the upcoming postseason.
Bryce Miller
Bryce Miller Flounders again in loss
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 5:04 PM
Miller (4-6) took the loss in Sunday's contest against the Dodgers, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over four innings with two strikeouts.
Analysis: The Seattle right-hander's run of less-than-stellar work continued in his final outing of the regular season. Miller allowed all four runs on a pair of two-run homers -- Hyeseong Kim in the second and Freddie Freeman in the fourth -- as he wraps 2025 on a stretch of 12 consecutive starts allowing two or more earned runs. Over that span, Miller tallied just one quality start while pitching to a 6.79 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 59.2 frames. The Texas A&M product concludes his regular season with a 5.68 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 74:34 K:BB in 90.1 total innings.
Josh Naylor
Josh Naylor Remains out Sunday
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 12:18 PM
Naylor (groin) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
Analysis: The Mariners won't risk Naylor ahead of the playoffs after he was pulled from Friday's game with groin tightness. Luke Raley will start at first base and bat sixth against left-hander Clayton Kershaw in Seattle's final regular-season game of 2025.
Logan Evans
Logan Evans Sent down Sunday
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 12:12 PM
The Mariners optioned Evans to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Sunday.
Analysis: Evans threw three innings of one-run ball out of the bullpen in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Dodgers in his return from the injured list in what marked his first career relief appearance in the majors. The 24-year-old put up a 4.32 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 59:31 K:BB over 81.1 spanning 16 appearances (15 starts) as a rookie during the regular season.
Miles Mastrobuoni
Miles Mastrobuoni Recalled, starting in center field
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 12:03 PM
The Mariners recalled Mastrobuoni from Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday. He'll start at first base and bat ninth in the team's regular-season finale versus the Dodgers.
Analysis: He'll see his first MLB action since Aug. 7 as the Mariners give Josh Naylor (groin) a breather. Mastrobuoni has a .612 OPS in the majors this season but put up a .296/.415/.417 slash line with one homer and nine steals in 31 games with Tacoma.
Julio Rodriguez
Julio Rodriguez Sitting for regular-season finale
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 11:55 AM
Rodriguez is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Dodgers.
Analysis: The Mariners have clinched the division and a first-round bye, so they will give their franchise player an extra rest day ahead of the postseason. Rodriguez swiped two bags Saturday, reaching 30-30 for the second time in his young career.
